Stetson Education: Hat Anatomy Western Styles (Part 1)

The cowboy hat is a high-crowned, wide-brimmed hat best known as the defining piece of attire for the North American cowboy. The shape of a cowboy hat’s crown and brim are often modified by the wearer for fashion and to protect against weather. Today’s cowboy hat has remained basically unchanged in construction and design since the first one was created in 1865 by John B. Stetson. In this video, Stetson walks you through the basic anatomy of the most popular Western-style cowboy hats. Shop Western hats here:

  2. Best hats in the world. I am from DeLand Florida where I live today and still have a Stetson I bought in High School and still have it today after retiring from the Army. Stetson spent 20 years 6 months out of the year during winters here in his mansion and we can buy them all over town and his Mansion here still has a fuse box that Edison put in his mansion and still works. His Mansion was one of the first to have Edison Electric in the whole Mansion in the world. Great stuff and we still were our Stetsonsโ€™ here in DeLand Fl.

  3. Wearing a Stetson is more than just wearing another hat. The quality is great, and so are the designs, but it’s the heritage that comes with the hat that makes Stetson so iconic. Right there at the beginning of settling the West, these hats have been worn and loved for hundreds of years. That and the craftsmanship that sets Stetson apart from all the others. To all those who make these hats for us to wear, I thank you.
