My Favorite Gear of 2025

🎬 My Top Gear Picks for 2025

Riding deep into the trails, packing heavy into remote country, and chasing cows through the brush. Here are my stand-outs this year:
• Circle Y Saddle – This is the saddle I trust when I’m in the saddle all day, whether cutting horses or leading a pack-trip. The heritage of Circle Y craftsmanship (over 60 years strong) makes it a ride you can count on.
• YETI Tundra Cooler (plus the matching gear box setup) – When I’m out in the backcountry or on the ranch, keeping stuff cool and safe is a big deal. The YETI Tundra lives up to the hype for rugged durability and serious ice-holding power.
• Madison Creek Sedona Jacket – A high-end, waxed goat suede piece from Madison Creek Outfitters that brings western elegance without sacrificing durability. Rugged yet refined for the guy who works hard and rides harder.
• Madison Creek Vail Goat Suede Vest – Likewise from Madison Creek, this vest is one of those layering pieces that works on the trail, around the ranch, or for the camera. Waxed suede, shearling collar, functional style.
• Rodeo King 100X Pure Beaver Hat – From The Cow Lot, this 100% pure beaver hat does more than keep the sun out of your eyes — it amplifies the cowboy aesthetic in a way the camera loves.
• Saddle panniers + bags:
• Smith & Edwards Saddle Panniers – A true “sawbuck pack saddle” take-along kit from the trusted folks at Smith & Edwards.
• Custom Leather Saddle Bags by Payton Hulme – Hand-crafted by leather worker Payton Hulme, these bags bring that custom, rugged western edge that fits the channel’s vibe.

  1. I’m grateful that I first tried a small Yeti cooler, so not as expensive. They are overpriced for what they deliver. I just returned from elk hunting. A cheap Igloo cooler kept our cold stuff cold for 10 days. The four half gallon milk jug ice blocks still had a little ice remaining.
